Netflix is one of the biggest and largest providers of Internet streaming services of movies and TV shows. The company has over more than 10,000 streaming hours for its visitors. Netflix is the largest Internet streaming services provider of movies and TV shows which has dominated the market for many years now. Despite of facing tough competition from Hulu and Amazon Prime, Netflix has proved to be a better option for viewers and customers in terms of prices as well as number of streaming hours available.
Netflix has been a sole dominator in the industry and it has decimated the cable television. However in order to totally eliminate cable television from the equation, the company planned to join hands with a few major cable providers so that Netflix directly goes to consumers through cable boxes as well.
Netflix recently made its first big partnership with a major TV provider in the United States. According to Time.com “Netflix has found an unlikely partner to help it recruit more new subscribers—Dish Network.” Dish Network announced recently that it will be introducing and integrating Netflix directly into its Hopper set top boxes. This means that the Dish subscribers will be able to switch to Netflix without making any effort or ditching cable television. The senior vice president of Dish Network said “Pairing Netflix with Hopper represents the consolidation of two incredible video experiences. It gives our customers easy access to their favorite shows and movies, on both Dish and Netflix, without ever having to leave their Hopper.”
This is a very smart strategy by the Netflix Company. It will be a win-win situation for the company as it will not be decimating or sidelining the cable television as well as making subscribers switching to Netflix indirectly. It was well said by the company that it will be best friends with the cable television providers in order to knock out them from the equation.
