But after dominating Twitter in terms of more active users on its platform, Instragram is now dominating Twitter in another hugely important way. Instagram already is above Twitter in terms users. Now Instagram’s dominant status over Twitter is more obvious when the Business Insider reported that “Instagram is not only gaining traction in sheer numbers of users, but posts from the biggest brands on the photo app are receiving almost 50 times more engagement (at the highest level) too.”
This means that Instagram has now more users and more engagement. It will be easy for advertisers to choose Instagram over Twitter now. Many top brand names such as Adidas, Starbucks, Victoria’s Secrets and many more are advertising and posting updates more on Instagram than on Twitter or Facebook or any other social media networking platform. The brands that show more engagement on Twitter are PlayStation, Taco Bell, Nike, and Paddy Power etc.
However, professional marketers mostly agree on the fact that the success rate of social media platforms should not be measured on social media metrics such as the amount of likes on a photo, retweets, followers – hence numbers do not matter. Instead of social media metrics, they should be looking at the business metrics such as sales as well as the brands metrics which shows affinity, loyalty, awareness and so on.
But as for now, Facebook owned Instagram is totally dominating Twitter in the market. After hitting and reaching one huge milestone, it now surpasses Twitter with another success.
