Alibaba and Paramount to collaborate on the movie’s online ticketing, merchandising, and promotions.
According to news report, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.’s movie sector, Alibaba pictures is ready to invest its money in Paramount Pictures latest movie “Mission: Impossible –Rogue Nation,” the recent one in the franchise of “ Mission: Impossible”. This investment by Alibaba will be its first venture in a movie.
The famous Hollywood movie star, Tom Cruise, who will be playing a role as Ethan Hunt, with the director Christopher McQuarrie. The movie will be released for early screening by the end of next month across the nation. The “Mission: Impossible” has been extremely successful, and has gathered around $2 billion at the international box office.
Alibaba will be the official partner when the movie will be released in China. The Chinese company will work together with paramount pictures in promotion, online ticketing, and merchandising. The company has also introduced an app named “Taobao Movie” that permits users to purchase tickets online, and book their seats before the show. The app is advertised to be the biggest online ticketing platform in the country.
The ticketing application will sync with company’s “Mobile Taobao,” app, and also with its payment platform, “Alipay.” This is great strategy as it has massive user base, and Alipay will be easier for users to purchase tickets online via credit cards.
Paramount and Alibaba will also collaborate by connecting online ticketing with its merchandise sales; this will give buyer an option to purchase the latest products of movies via Mobile Taobao. Like this, Alibaba has established a well-integrated system that passions merchandising, payment platform and online ticketing together.
Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of Alibaba Pictures while commenting on the progress, mentioned that the new movie is the company’s moving stone in its global plan. He said, “Alibaba Pictures looks forward to collaborating with more international movie studios where we can consolidate resources, technologies and talents to establish a world-class integrated entertainment platform for the film industry.”
Moreover, Rob Moore, Vice chairman of paramount pictures mentioned, : “Last fall, Jack Ma, Brad Grey, Zhang Qiang, and our teams met in Los Angeles to talk about ways our companies could cooperate together.”
